Annette Funicello (born Annette Funicello) was an American actor, performer and singer. She was best known as one of the original "Mouseketeers" on the 'Mickey Mouse Club.' She began singing as a teenager and was known for the hit songs "Tall Paul" as well as "Pineapple Princess." Annette was raised in Utica by Italian-immigrant parents. She was shy as a young child. Annette wanted to pursue her dream of becoming an entertainer. She began to dance and performing. Being the "Mouseketeer" in 'Disney sketches, Annette gained considerable recognition in the 1950s. Annette's "Disney" persona was discarded at the age of 18 when she was able to play adult roles. Her most famous role was one of the very first actors to pioneer"the "beach party" style of film.
